See you soon at the lake, The Staff at WWS 7/20/2011 Hi Campers, Here is the schedule of events for the upcoming weekend and beyond.
7/11/2011 The July 4th vacation week at the lake was just perfect. The weather conditions for the WWS Light Show and the Ossipee Fireworks displays was clear and warm. The comments on these shows and all the others that where viewed from our beaches and Breezy Point were all positive "the best year yet". The smells of BBQs was intoxicating and kept the stomachs growling even after just eating. I personally have noticed a resurgence in the use of Charcoal Briquettes for grilling. This is the way my dad did it before gas grills were invented. The smell of grilling this way sure does bring back memories. Oh man who's grilling ribs!? The continuing July vacation week was fun filled and again perfect weather kept everybody on the lake boating and sitting on the beach digging their toes in the sand. Thanks to all of our staff for keeping things running smooth at the park. It was busy and everyone stepped up and made this years July 4th a success. There are some great summer days ahead with many activities planned. Stay tuned! We will see you soon here at the lake, The Staff at WWS 6/30/2011
6/21/2011 The Ossipee Valley Snowmobile Club Annual Bass Fishing Tournament hosted by Westward Shores. This was another great tourney. Great weather and lots of fun. We hope to see you all again for next years tournament. 5/26/2011 Thanks to all the campers that participated in the park wide beautification weekends. It is so nice to have a clean and tidy park on the lake. We are looking forward to this upcoming Memorial Day Weekend. We hope to see you at the WWS cookout for our campers. You may bring a side dish if you wish. There will be Chicken Wings, Hamburgers and Hot Dogs. We are excited that the summer weather is here. Please visit us and enjoy the lake and surrounding attractions. See you all soon! The Staff at WWS 5/3/2011 Westward Shores Opening Day for the 2011 Summer Season is Saturday May 7th. We look forward to an excellent Spring and Summer here at the lake. See you all soon! The Staff at WWS 4/27/2011 We know everyone is itchy to come up and start the 2011 summer camping season here at the lake. We are too! We are hoping to be able to open the park a week earlier than normal. This would be the weekend before Mothers Day (May 7th) weekend BUT this will totally depend on how the weather goes in promoting the drying of the park roadways. Please stay tuned to the park website and /or your email. Elle will send out an email blast giving the opening date. See you soon at the lake, Mark 4/15/2011 Winter is finally starting to loosen its grip. There are just a few piles of snow around the park and some snow still in the woods. The higher elevation snow is melting and coming to the lake gradually thru the rivers and streams. The roads in the park are still soft and wet with some frost still deeper in the ground. Hopefully soon the roads will dry out and we can open the weekend before Mothers Day. Stay Tuned! Elle has many events planned for this upcoming season. As soon as the dates and the functions are settled they will be posted at the gate house information board and sent out in a constant contact mailing and also posted here so keep checking. We are all looking forward to a great season and hope to see you soon here at the lake! Mark 3/14/2011 WWS Winter Season Closed. See you in May! We held on to the winter as long as we could here at WWS. Now though the warmer temps have loosened the road surfaces and they can no longer support vehicles. This is the usual mud season coming up. So with heavy heart we must close out the Winter 2010/2011 season. We look forward to the spring sun and warm breezes. See you soon at the lake, Mark 3/8/2011 Winter is slowly giving in to the stronger sun of spring. We sure do have a great time during the winter but that sun does sure feel good. We hope that all our winter campers had a fun time this season and come back do it again next winter. Before you know it the park will have to close for the mud season. Please prepare because before you know it May will be here. See you soon at the lake, Mark 1/28/2011 Winterfest had no shortage of snow. We are glad all that came for the weekend had a great time. Seems that the 2011 winter camping season is going to continue to be snow and fun filled. Remember to be safe on the ski and snowmobile trails. If any of our winter campers have some winter activity pictures (riding, skiing, ice fishing, or just around the campfire) they would like to share please email them to me and I'll get them posted. See you soon at the frozen lake, Mark 1/05/2011 We have rung in the New Year! We wish all of our campers a Happy and Healthy New Year. Thanks to all that joined us this during this past weekend. See you soon around the park! 12/07/2010 We enjoyed the company of our campers for our Christmas Pot Luck Dinner. As usual the cooking talents of our campers were excellent. There were a lot of laughs during the Yankee Swap. Thanks to Woody for spinning the records and setting the mood. The lake is cold and some snow has been in the air. It's a great time of year and it is fun getting ready for the Holidays. We hope to see you all around the park. See you soon at the lake and Ho, Ho, Ho, Mark 11/19/2010 Happy Thanksgiving to all our campers and their families. We hope you all have an enjoyable and safe holiday. Some news to pass along: The winter 2010/2011 Winter Season Opening date is Wednesday the day before Thanksgiving. We hope to see you all at the park. You may want to leaf blow to work off some of your turkey dinner and just get things ready for the snowy season ahead. This season WWS is offering to our less winter enthused summer seasonal campers an opportunity to try winter camping on a pay per night basis. We hope that you will give winter camping a try. It is a beautiful part of the year. Please remember that you must call our park office before your intended stay and register. The fee will be 35.00 per night. You may pay at that time via CC or have your WWS account billed. Guest Fees Apply. There is much going on in and around the park during the winter season. John and Ellie have lots planned during weekends. Bingo, Bonfires and more. Outside of the park there is Big and Small Mountain Skiing close by. Snowmobiling in the Ossipee Valley is fantastic. Shopping and Dining in our Valley and to the North in the Mount Washington Valley is fun too. Visit our Links Page for more local information. Well that's it for now. If you have any questions don't hesitate to send us an email or give us a call. See you soon at the lake, Mark

John, Elle, Meg, Mark G. and Woodie of course. Also a big thanks to Lou B for his generousity to all his ship mates. The heat of the summer is now gone but the trees are starting to heat up with color. This is a favorite time of camping season for many campers. 7/7/10 There has just so much going on that there just hasn't been enough time to punch up the latest news till now. The Fifth Annual Ossipee Lake Open Bass Tournament Presented by OVSC (Ossipee Valley Snowmobile Club) and hosted by Westward Shores was again a success. Tourney Director Mark Fournier was happy with the turnout of both the registrants and the excited crowd of onlookers at the weigh in. "The fishing was a little dicey" said Mark Fournier because of the previous weather pattern he thought, "but the boats still came in with some nice catches". Congratulations to the participants that won some nice prizes and thanks to all that turned out for this tournament. We hope to see you all again next June. The Fourth of July Weekend was busy for everyone. The Parade, Bocce and Horseshoes on the new courts; music on the beach Saturday night and Karaoke on Sunday night; scavenger hunts, the pancake breakfast and the fireworks. Thanks to the folks that helped put these activities on. We couldn't have done it with out you. The weather could not have been better for boating and camping and all the fun that was to be had. We are glad that everyone had a good time and that all your visiting families and friends got home safely. There is still plenty of summering to do on the lake and in the mountains. Be sure to check out the White Mountains Attractions Rack at the gate house. Also the new Tip Board with the goings on here at the park. See you soon at the lake, Mark 6/16/10 This Saturday is the OVSC Fifth Annual Ossipee Lake Open Bass Tournament. We are expecting a great turnout. Fishermen and woman start coming into the park at 5:30 am or so to get their boats in the water and register. The tournament fishing starts at 7:00am and ends at 3:00pm. There has been some beautiful fish at weigh ins in the past. Be sure to catch the action on the marina point at 3:15. There are other activities planned for this weekend. Visit the gate house for info and also check the bulletin board outside the gate house. See you soon, Mark 6/11/10 BEAR ALERT: New Bear Proof Dumpsters are being installed at the park. Campers, Please be aware that the bears are on the prowl thru out the Ossipee Valley. Even here at the park we have seen Yogi looking for picnic baskets. Remember to keep all food scraps and rubbish cleaned up. Do not leave rubbish cans outside. Use the new bear proof dumpsters for house hold rubbish only! We want a safe clean environment for our campers and their families. See you soon at the lake, Mark 6/03/2010 Memorial Day Weekend was busy here at the lake. The weather was great and the water was bearable though still a little chilly. The Saturday Night beach entertainment by Pounds of Sound was fun and we will be sure to do that again soon. Coming up in the next couple of weeks (Saturday June 19) is the Ossipee Valley Snowmobile Club Annual Bass Tournament. The turn out last year was strong and the the fish taken were impressive. Be sure to catch the weigh in on the point at around 3:30. Summer is just starting to fire up. Please remember safety first in and around the lake. Also in the park pay attention as children are running around and riding bicycles everywhere. See you at the lake, Mark 5/14/2010 The park opened May 8th as planned. A little wet weather didn't seem to dampen the spirits of campers kicking off the new summer season. For our seasonal campers doing site clean up. Please take your leaves out to the gate house parking lot to beyond the gravel pile. You will see the leaf pile already there and growing. Please remember that large items that you want to get rid of are not the parks responsibility. We will try to make arrangements to help you but you must visit the gate house and state what you are looking to have thrown away. Mark and Gordy worked very hard this week trying to get the docks all floating. If they aren't done they are close. Remember to see Robert at the gate house to get your dock assignments. PLEASE DO NOT JUST PARK YOUR BOAT IN ANY SLIP. THIS CAUSES US MAJOR PROBLEMS. Please remember your boating safety for this season. Get your hull plugs in before backing down the ramp. Have a wonderful fun season boating!!! All seasonal campers are invited to a cookout May 22. Bring your appetite and welcome back for another season at WWS. See you at the lake, Mark
4/02/2008
Hi Seasonal Campers,
I sailed the inland
waters of the park over the past couple of days. It looks to me that no one
got water into their campers or add a rooms. Some of you may have to replace
duct hose and maybe some insulation. All in all though the only critters
really disrupted are the burrowing animals that have all taken to the trees.
It’s going to take quite
awhile for the waters to recede and the ground to firm up. So remember the
Park Is Closed till Opening Day!
The planned park opening
day is Saturday May 8th . Remember that this date is not
etched in stone. Mother Nature must cooperate. The roads need to firm up so
they can support traffic. Please stay tuned to the website.
Enjoy the nice weather
coming up,
Mark

See you all soon, Mark 3/01/2010 The park has received some calls regarding the wild storm that affected just about all of New England. I am happy to report that the park fared well. At this time there seems to be no damage. Soon the park will be closed for the winter season. Please remember to be prepared to NOT be able to access the park till the May opening. As soon as we decide on the last day of winter camping we will post the information right here.

If you are a snowmobiler please visit the local snowmobile club websites for up to date information regarding riding conditions. The OVSC Ossipee Valley Snowmobile Club maintains the trail thru the WWS Park, south and north to Conway on the rail bed and to the west thru White Lake State Park to Sandwich Notch. The SOSSC Scrub Oak Scramblers maintains the trail system east of Lake Ossipee to Maine points that is accessed at Camp Calumet. These clubs are both all volunteer organizations promoting the family sport of snowmobiling. Snowmobile registrations and club memberships are available at Canoe King / Allsport Autoracks on Rte 16 just north of McDonald's. Visit them for your snowmobiling outfitting needs also. They stock helmets, clothing and lubricants to just name a few. Skiers have a wide choice of mountains to chose from that are easily accessed from WWS. Closest located on Rte 153 is King Pine Ski Area. To the North, Cranmore, Attitash and Wildcat are all local big mountains with terrain for all ability levels. If you want more information for any of these ski areas you can visit their websites. Also you may email me for even more details of each ski area and what they have to offer. Lastly we want to remind our winter campers that the pool and hot tub facilities at Samantha's Inn are available to you thru out the winter. Also visit Sammy's Paw Print Pub for great food and a warm atmosphere for those après ski and snowmobile get togethers. Take Care, Mark at the Lake
We also have a new way for folks to get directions to the park if they need them. Go to GOGGLE MAPS. In the SEARCH MAPS field just type (Westward Shores on Ossipee Lake). The map of the USA will pop up. Click on the Teardrop "A" that is hovering over New Hampshire and you'll have all the info you need to find us.
FYI FOR OUR CAMPERS.
WWS is now able to provide Propane at an
excellent
group rate price. Some of our campers have already taken advantage of this
opportunity. We know you will be pleasantly surprised with the price and
service.
