Wesward Shores on Ossipee Lake NH

01/03/10

Hi Campers,

The New Year has started with more snow up here on the lake. This is great for those of us that like to play in it. I am one of those so I am pretty happy. For the rest of you that don’t enjoy the snow I hope you are somewhere keeping warm and toasty.

For any of you that would like your camper roofs shoveled please let me know. Just send me an email or leave a message on the park phone and I will get back to you.

Snowmobilers, Ice Fisherman and Skaters please remember to always use caution when venturing out on the lake. We have had lots of cold temps but just last week there was open water on the lake. We want everyone to recreate safely. Also in the campground proper please adhere to the winter speed limit and use caution especially at intersections where traffic may be hidden by snow banks.

That is all for now from the frozen north.

See you soon at the lake,

Hi There Campers,

Hope all is well with everyone and that your holiday preparations are going well.

Over the last week including last night snow has fallen up here at the lake. Right now there is 12” of snow cover. The park has been plowed but with the blade up a few inches. We are working on a good snowpack on the roads. Please remember that you should have good snow tires to be able to navigate the park.

If you haven’t registered your snowmobiles yet, here is some helpful information. Canoe King of New England or Barton’s Motorsports are convenient places to do so. Snowmobile Registrations and Club Memberships (SOSSC and OVSC) are available at both locations.

Also for snowmobile trail conditions updates check www.ossipeevalleysnowmobileclub.com regularly. For ski area trail conditions just look up your favorite resort and all the info will be available on their website.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the lake,

Mark, Nancy, Matt and Mike

The 2009/2010 Winter Camping Season begins here at WWS November 25th.

If you are a hardy camper and wish to join us for this fun season in the snow be sure to send us and email at (info@wwsonossipeelake.com) for information or call and leave a message on our park phone (1-603-539-6445).

There are many fun winter activities so close. Snowmobile to any destination in the state right from our park. Ice fishing is right on our waterfront. Skiing is as close as a 1/2 hour away with all major ski areas just up to the Mt Washington Valley.

See our links page for more winter activities information.

Hi Campers,

These cold nights are bringing the color right out of the leaves. It is really pretty around here. The cold nights have also got us thinking about buttoning up our campers and the park itself for the winter months. Please remember to disconnect your hoses from the water spickets. This makes the winterization process of the parks water system easier for us. Turn off all your electrical appliances in your campers and disconnect your plug from your electrical stand off. This will assure that you won't be getting a bill for electrical usage from PSNH.

The marina is getting empty as boats are being put up for the winter. Please remember that if your dock accessories are important to you then please remove them for the winter. All of the docks are interchangeable and there is no guarantee that the same slip will be in the same spot next spring.

Please see below this seasons Fair Website Links. The Fryeburg fair is running this week and this upcoming weekend is the Sandwich Fair.

October 15th falls on a Thursday this year. This is the last day of our summer season. We hope you all had an enjoyable summer on the lake and we look forward to having you back with us next summer!

9/22/09

Hi Campers,

Just a quick note with regard to this upcoming weekend.  This Saturday night the 26th from 5 to 10 there will be music and karaoke on the beach with D. Wilson.  Come and enjoy one last night on the shore of the lake before it gets to cold.

Hi Campers,

The fall weather is rolling in early this year. It is a great time to camp. Cool quiet nights and crystal clear comfortable days for cruising the lake. The leaves have started to turn and so far the colors of the wetland sugar maples are vibrant.

Please start to think about your winter preparations. Remember to take your dock accessories off of your boat slips. There is no guarantee that the particular slip at your spot will be the same next season as they are all interchangeable.

Winterization of your campers includes disconnecting your hose from the water spicket. This helps us winterize the parks water system. Make sure that anything your have stored on the ground will not float away if we have high water anytime during the off season.

This season again RV Dave and Brightside RV are available to winterize your campers. You may pick up a winterization form at the gate house or call these very reputable RV servicers directly. This season the park will not be scheduling these services so see below for their phone numbers so that you may contact them directly.

RV Dave 1-603-733-6878               Brightside RV 1-207-432-1985

This is Country Fair Season. The local fairs will all be taking place over the next few weeks. Pumpkins and Sausage Subs....mmmm! Oh yeah and Fried Dough. I love this time of year.

Please click the links below for the upcoming fairs.

Santa will be at the Market Deck at 4:00pm or if the weather doesn’t permit he will be in the Pavilion.

First we want to thank Phat Chicks for playing on the beach during the week of July 4th. The band played all night long till the fire works from constitution park were lit off. Here are a couple of pics of the band.

Coming up during the last weekend of the month is Christmas in July here at WWS. Prizes will be awarded for some of your best decorated campsites. Also we expect a visit from Santa. Santa does like to get south once and a while and ride a boat instead of sleigh and get some sand between his toes instead of snow. We can't wait for his visit.

Also be on the look out for information regarding our Park Wide Camp Sites Yard Sale which will be happening in August. Our annual Golf Cart Drag Races and Halloween are also coming up this season.

6/29/09

Hi Campers,

July 4th vacation week is right around the corner. We see the weather forecast is looking pretty good for the weekend and hopefully continuing on right thru the summer.

There are a few things happening for this weekend at the park. Friday Night Movies will be running at the Pavilion. We are going show a double feature with the 7:00 pm show geared toward the younger folks and the later show for teens. We will be enjoying the movies ourselves so please join us. Remember to bring your treats.

Saturday Morning at 10:00 will be the annual July 4th Celebration Golf Cart and Bicycle Parade. Naturally there will be prizes awarded so make that Golf Cart and Bicycle sparkle like fireworks!

Saturday Night on the South Beach (weather permitting otherwise it will be held in the pavilion) live music performed by "PHAT CHICKS". The show will be over just in time for fireworks viewing from the beach. The Fireworks start at 9:30.

Also remember that this is Ossipee Old Home Week. Many fun things to do. Great Music at the Veterans Memorial Park (in front of town hall), Parades, Ossipee Farmers Market and the list goes on. Please visit the Ossipee Old Home week website. http://www.ossipeeoldhomeweek.com/

Please remember to drive safe during this holiday week on the road and on the lake.

See you at the lake, The WWS Staff

Hi Campers,

This past weekend some of you attended the Weigh In for the Annual OVSC Bass Tourney hosted by Westward Shores. For those of you that didn't here are some pictures.

There was a great turnout this year with a 20 boat field. The winning boat this year had 4 bass totaling 15.94 lbs.

Also this past weekend we had a Saturday Night Movie at the Pavilion. We will have a movie this Saturday Night also. The showing starts at 7:00 pm. Please bring your own treats. All movies will be G or PG-13 rated.

Forth of July is right around the corner. We are going to have the Golf Cart and Bicycle Parade start at 10:00am  Saturday the 4th at the Gate House. The 10:00 am start is so that folks will have the rest of the day to be on the lake or the beach.

5/14/2009

Hi Folks, Just a little bit of email business for our seasonal campers first. Campers I have been receiving returned mail from some addresses when I do a WWS Distribution List Mass Mailing. I think some of your email servers interpret  my emails to you as spam. Please set your email to allow mailings from this address (mark@wwsonossipeelake.com).

Boat Docks....They are all just about in. The D section in the lagoon needs some squaring away to evenly space the slips. That's about it. Please remember to check with Robert before you wet your boat and put it in a slip. I do not want to have any parking issues. In other words, we want smooth sailing ;)

Up at North Beach the large stones have been replaced. We move them in the fall so that the snowmobile trail can run thru the access to the lake. Now that they are back in place please understand that no golf carts are allowed on the beach. For those of you that have a boat moored at the end of the beach you must please use the parking area to park your cart and walk the beach to your water craft. Thanks for your help with this issue.

Campers, Please help us (Mark, Matt, Mike and Cam) to keep the park clean. There are rubbish barrels at the playground, near the tennis court, at the marina store and north beach. There really should be no reason to find trash on the ground in the park. We really appreciate the effort.

From the lake, that's all for now!

5/5/2009

The Park is pleased to announce that we will be able to open as planned on May 9th (9:00am). Please remember that gate keys will be reissued. In order to avoid paying a key card deposit you must trade your old keys for the new keys. What we really need is the old keys to be returned so that we can reuse them in the future. So dig thru your glove compartments and center consoles to find those keys so your prepared.

See you soon at the lake!

Winter camper sites, we will do our best to not plow snow into your site.

If you are a snowmobiler please visit the local snowmobile club websites for up to date information regarding riding conditions.

The OVSC Ossipee Valley Snowmobile Club maintains the trail thru the WWS Park, south and north to Conway on the rail bed and to the west thru White Lake State Park to Sandwich Notch.

The SOSSC Scrub Oak Scramblers maintains the trail system east of Lake Ossipee to Maine points that is accessed at Camp Calumet. These clubs are both all volunteer organizations promoting the family sport of snowmobiling.

Snowmobile registrations and club memberships are available at Canoe King / Allsport Autoracks on Rte 16 just north of McDonald's. Visit them for your snowmobiling outfitting needs also. They stock helmets, clothing and lubricants to just name a few.

Skiers have a wide choice of mountains to chose from that are easily accessed from WWS. Closest located on Rte 153 is King Pine Ski Area. To the North, Cranmore, Attitash and Wildcat are all local big mountains with terrain for all ability levels. If you want more information for any of these ski areas you can visit their websites. Also you may email me for even more details of each ski area and what they have to offer.

Lastly we want to remind our winter campers that the pool and hot tub facilities at Samantha's Inn are available to you thru out the winter. Also visit Sammy's Paw Print Pub for great food and a warm atmosphere for those après ski and snowmobile get togethers.

Take Care, Mark at the Lake

We also have a new way for folks to get directions to the park if they need them. Go to GOGGLE MAPS. In the SEARCH MAPS field just type (Westward Shores on Ossipee Lake). The map of the USA will pop up. Click on the Teardrop "A" that is hovering over New Hampshire and you'll have all the info you need to find us.

FYI FOR OUR CAMPERS. WWS is now able to provide Propane at an excellent group rate price. Some of our campers have already taken advantage of this opportunity. We know you will be pleasantly surprised with the price and service.
If you would like the details and the current price per gallon please e-mail mark@wwsonossipeelake.com

We like to post information here for our campers. We do sometimes though would like to pass information directly to and only to our campers and this is not the place to do it. So....................
Would you like to be on the WESTWARD SHORES E-MAIL LIST? You'll get updates and campers only information if you send us a note letting us know that you would like to be on the list. The list is for our use only to provide our campers timely information from the lake.
Just e-mail a quick note to mark@wwsonossipeelake.com and we will add your e-mail to our address book.
